A village on Nabha Road had no doctor with tertiary-hospital emergency training. A stroke, a cardiac event or a child's breathing emergency meant a drive to Patiala first and a diagnosis second. The doctor who moved back had a decade at L H Hiranandani, SevenHills and Apollo behind her, and no way for the villages to know it.
