🇳🇿 NEW ZEALAND / AOTEAROA
★ Lighthouse 95 · NZD via Razorpay International · NZ Privacy Act 2020 · Te Reo Māori-aware
New Zealand's digital landscape has a particular shape: a small population (5.2M), a high-trust commercial culture, and the most mobile-first internet usage in the OECD. Half your customers are on rural 4G; the other half are on metro fibre but checking on a phone over their morning flat white. A site that loads in 4 seconds in New Zealand isn't slow — it's invisible.
We've shipped for New Zealand small businesses since 2022 (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown, Tauranga). Most arrived after walking out on either a NZ$300/mo Squarespace template or a Wellington agency quoting NZ$45k+ for a 12-page site. Neither is the right answer for an SMB doing NZ$500k–$5M annually.
Why the lean stack matters in New Zealand
A minimal observation: most New Zealand SMBs we work with don't need an enterprise CMS. They need a fast, mobile-first site that ranks for their suburb + service combination, captures leads, and integrates with Xero. That's the brief.
Our Starter and Business tiers are engineered around exactly this: Next.js + Tailwind + a lean CMS, no plug-in tax, sub-second loads on rural 4G, and one-click Xero integration for invoice sync.
NZ Privacy Act 2020 + Commerce Commission
The compliance picture in NZ is light by EU standards but specific:
- Privacy Act 2020. Replaced the 1993 Act with stronger breach notification (Notifiable Data Breaches to the OPC within "as soon as practicable") and explicit cross-border transfer rules. We document data flows and lawful basis on every build.
- Commerce Commission rules around pricing claims. "Was/now" pricing, "from $X" claims, and bait advertising are all enforced. Our pricing pages are CCC-aware.
- Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. NZ's anti-spam law — explicit consent for marketing emails/SMS, sender identification, unsubscribe in every message.
- Health Information Privacy Code 2020 for healthcare clients (a small but growing slice of our NZ work).
Te Reo Māori where it matters
About 12% of our New Zealand clients ship Te Reo Māori versions of key pages — not the whole site, but specific sections (greeting, value statement, contact). For tourism, hospitality, and government-adjacent businesses, this matters more than agencies outside NZ usually appreciate.
We don't charge extra for Te Reo Māori translation pairs on the build, and we route final review through a kaumātua reviewer when the client requests it. Tēnā koe before the welcome message reads differently than just "Hello."
NZD billing
Invoices issue from Redenn Informatics Pvt. Ltd. in NZD via Razorpay International. GST handled per the NZ$60k registration threshold. The exchange happens once at mid-market on our side; you pay in NZD.
Starter from NZ$2,000, Business from NZ$5,800, Ecommerce from NZ$9,200, Webapp from NZ$25,000. Standard kickoff splits.
What "fast" really means on rural 4G
Auckland CBD has world-class fibre. Coromandel, the Catlins, half of the Far North, and a meaningful slice of the South Island do not. We engineer for the slower half:
- Sub-second LCP on real-world 4G (we test on throttled "Slow 4G")
- Aggressive image lazy-loading + WebP/AVIF
- Critical-CSS inlined
- Total page weight under 1.4MB on the homepage
Lighthouse 95+ on every page is the floor, not the ceiling.
Industries we ship for in New Zealand
- Tourism and hospitality — accommodations, tour operators, wineries, cafés
- Agritech — farm management software, dairy automation, viticulture
- Allied health — physios, chiropractors, dentists
- Trades — sparkies, plumbers, builders (a familiar pattern from Australia)
- DTC consumer brands shipping nationally
- Membership organisations and cooperatives
What this looks like in practice
A Queenstown-based luxury accommodation with seven properties replaced their NZ$190/mo subscription template with a custom unified-booking webapp for NZ$16,500 in 8 weeks. The webapp now serves 3 languages (EN/zh-CN/Te Reo Māori), integrates directly with Xero and SiteMinder, and has cut their booking-engine fees by 60% in year one.
