You will build custom WordPress themes and Shopify storefronts for clients across the US, UK, Canada, Australia and India — clinics, trades businesses and product brands that take real orders through what you ship. A good share of the work is rescue work too: migrating tired, slow sites onto clean builds without losing rankings, URLs or orders in the process.

Why this role

You will build themes from scratch instead of dragging page-builder blocks around, and your work goes live for clients on four continents within weeks of joining.

A normal week

  1. You take a Figma file and build it as a custom WordPress theme with hand-written templates and ACF fields, no page-builder bloat underneath.
  2. You migrate a client off a slow legacy host onto a clean build, mapping every old URL so the SEO team does not lose six months of rankings overnight.
  3. You wire up the unglamorous ecommerce details — shipping rules, tax, a payment gateway that behaves in one country and sulks in another — on WooCommerce or Shopify.
  4. You chase Core Web Vitals on a live store until the LCP number actually moves, then show the client the before and after.

What you’ll do

  • Build custom WordPress themes and small plugins from design files, clean enough that the next developer can read them.
  • Build and customise Shopify storefronts, including Liquid templates and app integrations.
  • Set up and extend WooCommerce stores: products, variants, shipping, tax, payments and order flows.
  • Run migrations and redesigns without breaking URLs, rankings or existing customer data.
  • Keep live client sites fast, secure and updated under ongoing care plans.

What we’re looking for

  • 1 to 4 years building WordPress sites professionally, not only personal or college projects.
  • Solid PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript; you can open someone else's theme and fix it without rewriting everything.
  • Hands-on work on at least a few real WooCommerce or Shopify stores.
  • Comfortable with Git, staging environments, and the basics of hosting and DNS.
  • You debug by reading logs and code, not by deactivating plugins one at a time and hoping.

Nice to have (not required)

  • Shopify Liquid experience; if you are strong on WordPress and willing to learn Shopify properly, apply anyway.
  • Page-speed work you can point to: caching, image pipelines, Core Web Vitals scores you moved.
  • Any exposure to React or Next.js, since some client projects sit on the modern stack.
